Regular Classic
June 25, 2020
Just the right amount of slinkiness; excellent playability and quite a bit of bend-ability, depending on finger strength / experience. When paired with Les Paul, the sound is thick and can go from rock to blues to jazz. I love the fact that there's no harshness / sharpness to the sound these strings produce. Yet, they're definitely not mellow. The range of application, the stability of performance, etc., make these Ernie Ball a go-to classic for me.

These are some of my favorite Strings for 25.5" scale guitars.
For those of us who have sweaty hands that tarnish stings and deaden the stings quickly, these have good durability for a non coated string.

Great string at a bargain price
September 6, 2017
I'm not sure if there are better strings made for this kind of money. I was using Elixir for years...great strings but more costly. Tonally I've found both strings are very similar. Yes the Elixirs will last longer but not enough the justify the cost difference.
  • Great tone and balance
  • as they age they can leave a dark corrosion residue on finger tips which is common with non-coated strings. Just need to clean the strings more often to avoid this.

Packing issues
May 12, 2017
I bought a 12 pack of 10 to 46 strings, they sound good and the price is right. Largely I'd recommend these strings to anyone.

However nothing is perfect and the issue had with the packaging was as time went by I found the plain strings had rust/corrosion spots on them. I still used them of course but I wouldn't buy 12 packs again because of the corrosion issue.
  • Good price and they sound good.
  • Packaging isn't airtight so the strings will corrode and rust. Don't buy bulk.

Pretty much the best strings I've tried
Although the rust quickly (probably my sweaty hands), they still play super great, and they are nice and cheap. I would choose these over other string brands any day

Best strings for the money
July 23, 2015
Ernie Ball are the best strings for the money. Sure there are better strings, like thomastik or DR for specific types of music or certain tones, but ernie ball have a great overall tone and they last longer than others in this price range.

Great for heavier picking style players
July 21, 2015
These strings have a thicker Core to Wrap ratio than most pther brands.

This means the string doesnt vibrate in as wide and arc and it allows you to hit a bit harder without buzz.

  • A tight bass response that is quite 'Modern'.
  • Players who like a bright and tight bass will love them.
  • Not so good for those seeking old school warm 70s tones
