Item Description

Dunlop Heavy Core 7 String Electric Guitar Strings - Heavy Core for Heavy Tones

With Heavy CoreŽ technology, you can now play a seven-string guitar in standard and dropped tunings or tune down without compromising note quality or modifying your instrument. This set works great in standard B, B with dropped A, and 1/2 step B Flat tunings.

Heavy CoreŽ Strings are uniquely designed for the player who tunes low and plays hard, featuring heavier core wires that allow the player to really "dig in" while retaining definition and punch without modifying his or her instrument.

Heavy CoreŽ Strings, like all Dunlop Strings, are manufactured with the highest quality of materials and engineered for great tone, balance, and feel.

Balanced tones and tension
April 17, 2016
Finally, a set of strings for 7 strings that isn't flabby! this set have a nice sound and the 7th string has 0.60 gauge, which is the perfect tensoin for 7 string, in my opinion. I play a 26.5" scale seven string guitar and the response is spactacular! after years of playing earnie ball 7 string sets I have finally found my tonal home.
  • The tension per string is perfect for drop tuning
  • Lasts a bit shorter than the avarege nickel plated set

For Tuning to C Standard, there is NOTHING better.

I use this pack on a six string (drop the 10) when tuning a regular scale guitar to C.

They drop in perfectly, and the tension is great tuned as such. I find that they stay "tighter" and don't flop around as much as every other brand of string I have used. The sound is full and rich, without being too muddy. I use them on an Explorer and a Flying V, with both passive and active pickups, and they kick ass OUT LOUD!
  • Great tension at lower tunings, sounds great.
  • When using on a six string guitar, you get a wound third which makes those lower tunings scream!
  • Stay clear longer then any other thick string set!
  • They get stinky, but clean them regularly and they will last for a very long time!

Best 7 string pack by far
January 22, 2014
Got tired of using the typical brands and sizes for 7 string, 56-10 gauge enter any string company just about lol. These got my attention cause of the specific gauges it is. Pretty much the best for 7 string I've tried by far, and I wasn't disappointed in how they sounded either. They take abuse from hard strumming or tremolo picking. And detune when you need it.
  • The hybrid tension, 11 set bottom, 10 set top.
  • The .060 gauge string is perfect for B and even Drop A.
  • Super bright but very growly.
  • Last a long time and stays in tune.
  • The .010 still can break kinda easy if you get a little careless , but I can go baritone easy as well.

Best cheap strings money you will ever find
November 23, 2012
I play 7 and 6 string guitars, anywhere from standard tuning to drop tunings, expensive guitars, cheap guitars and even hackjobs i've put together myself. I got the heavy core 7s on a whim because they were cheap and i needed to restring all my guitars. Ive used everything under the sun and paid as much as 20 bucks for a set of strings before. These run you less than 6 bucks and can take care of any guitar, if you play a 6 string, but need to be able to down tune, just drop the high string. if you wanna play in standard on a 6, just get rid of the low. this will leave you extras if you break them on your other guitars. I can't recommend any other strings on the market. These stay bright, last long and break in easily. I give em all sorts of hades too and ive never had one snap on me. the longest ive had a set on was close to 8 months, playing the guitar 3 - 5 times a week and I play fast and heavy on my strings. You cant beat these.
  • Great thick tone
  • Comfortable, yet strong tension
  • Long Lasting, stay bright forever
  • Quick and easy break in
  • excellent on fixed bridge or floyd rose

Sick Strings
December 31, 2011
I play most styles from jazz to heavy tech/proggy metal and these strings are sickkkk. I first used the six string version and loved those then got a seven string guitar and bought these, and i will say they are awesome. Super clear tone, punchy, dynamic, fat, and smooth all at the same time. They last a long time too. I play hours and hours per day and have long practices with my band. These stay in tune very well too and break in nicely and work really nice. Just make sure to set up your guitar if these are a higher tension then your previous strings, it makes a world of difference.

Just got these from Strings and Beyond and I must say they seem punchier than the other strings I was using(ghs boomers). Great string for metal.
