close enough to hawksbill shell without the guilt!

I have played tortoiseshell picks in the past and these get very close in look, tone and feel. The thinner ones actually have a little bit of flex but even the heavy ones have enough "give" in the tone to soften the hard edge of using a stiff pick. I'm partial to their shape with 3 different tips (I also play mandolin, electric guitar and bass) for adjusting your attack with a quick twist of the pick. John Pearse is also a passionate, small company that is happy to get customer feedback and very responsive to our input-I met some fine folks when they were a vendor at the Old Fiddler's Convention in Galax, VA a few years back and they were very helpful in "picking" the right stuff for a gift when my GF called them a few years ago. All good.
ProsGreat feel, look, tone and a good price compared to other similar companies' offerings. I really like Blue Chip (and the more affordable Red Bear) picks but I don't want to worry about dropping a $35 pick at a dark jam!
ConsSome may not like the dimple on the thicker picks, though I prefer it.
