Item Description

GHS Strings presents the Low Tunes electric guitar strings, a member of their rollerwound family. Most wound guitar strings are made with a wrap wire that is round. While much brighter and more flexible than strings that are made with flat windings, the round windings can produce a lot of finger noise or "squeak". For their rollerwound series, GHS runs the round wrap wire through a set of rollers to somewhat flatten the wire. This semi-flat or "half-round" wrap wire retains the brightness and flexibility but reduces finger noise significantly. This set is acutually the same strings as the Nickel Rockers but is simply a heavy gauge, designed for tuning your guitar down to E flat or D.

Great vintage tone and feel
I love those strings. You can't go wrong with those if you're into classic rock. I use those on my '94 tele. Wanna hear them in action? On youtube search for GeneAkimoff channel, watch Diminished Scale Lick #1 Cheers!
ProsVintage tone and feel. Low finger noise

Great strings and guage!
I am a Fender guy that uses standard 11 guage sets tuned standard, but use these on my Les Paul which stays in drop D. The 058 has a nice tension dropped a step, and the slightly heavier B&G strings keep a fairly consistent tension feel when switching between Gibson and Fenders. Great tone, too.

Great Alternative Tuning String
Whether drop D or open tuning, these strings perform. Nice balanced tone and the uber-gauge bottom E helps out if you are low tuned. Killer for slide, and a nice feel. I second the comment about a thicker gauge top E.

My actual response to the question about tone is 'beautiful'. You can't play blues without a Strat, a Fender tube amp and these strings. The ultimate combination.

Great tone - long life
Great strings. I use these on a US Fender Lonestar and they stay in tune forever and sound nice and fat. Sometimes I leave a set on for many months, and they still sound great, even after losing their initial brighness. I wish they had a set with .013 for the high E, but that is not too hard to find. These are great for building strength in our fingers, making it much easier to play guitars with "normal" strings. Also, you can really attack the guitar hard. Be sure to properly set up your guitar for these strings!
