Item Description

These D'Addario EJ22 Electric Guitar Strings Jazz Medium .013 - .056 are among the most popular nickel-plated electric guitar strings on the market from the world's largest manufacturer of strings for musical instruments.

"I use D'Addario Strings because I love the feeling of new strings, and I tried a lot of other strings but nothing felt like a new set of XL's. I can play as hard as I can and they rarely break on me." - Billy Martin of Good Charlotte

D'Addario's EXL Nickel Electric Guitar strings offer a distinct, bright tone, with excellent intonation and a "fret-friendly" nickel round wound feel that make them the top choice of guitar players of all genres around the world. The nickel-plated wrap wire is ideal for magnetic pickups, relaying the highest sound quality.

All D'Addario strings are precisely wound around a hexagonally shaped high-carbon-steel core wire by computer-controlled machines guaranteeing clear intonation, rock-solid fundamentals, and incomparable consistency in every string. The tight core tension produced through this rigorous quality-controlled process results in a harmonically rich, longer-lasting string.

D'Addario has incorporated Corrosion Intercept Technology with their environmentally friendly packaging to insure your strings are green, and fresh for the pickin'!

The application of Corrosion Intercept Technology, developed by Lucent Technologies' Bell Labs, is the most significant development in string packaging since D'Addario pioneered the environmental string package in 1992. Each Corrosion Intercept bag employs a plastic which contains a gas-neutralizing barrier in the polymer matrix. This barrier reacts with and neutralizes gasses which cause materials to tarnish, guaranteeing that your D'Addario strings are as fresh and tarnish-free as the day we packaged them. Since Corrosion Intercept bags are both environmentally friendly and completely recyclable, they'll keep our planet untarnished as well.

Also, as a result of D'Addario's Player's Points Program, several tons of packaging redeemed for D'Addario gear gets systematically recycled every year.

All D'Addario packaging is either produced from recycled materials or is completely recyclable.

Al Schnier of Moe talks about D'Addario's environmentally friendly packaging.

I agree with Doug's review. . .

These are THE electric jazz string for me, bar none. Over the past seventeen years, I've gone through the flatwound phase a couple of times, then when I would get back to rounds, I'd always come back to these, regardless of what other brands I would try. It's not that hard to adjust to 13s if you just give yourself time to adjust and work up to this gauge. They really sound best after a coupe of hours of playing, then they stay that way for weeks and weeks if you just wipe them down after every gig or practice session.
  • Dynamic, versatile sound. Long-lasting with no "gimmicks" like coatings, "super alloys," etc. Price is great, also.

Take the "wimp" out of your Jazz sound with D'Addario EJ22 Jazz Guitar Strings. This is the traditional "old school" Jazz gauge. The .013 first string set-up, with the wound 3rd, gives Jazz solos a more solid, “believable and convincing authority. This set is perfectly balanced to give Jazz chords that “beefy fullness we hear when listening to the real Jazz masters. The medium gauge really helps the sound project.

I have been using D'Addario EJ22 Jazz Guitar Strings since 1980 on my L-5 copy (1977 Japanese Ibanez). They are my favorite Jazz strings; I have tried many brands, of all gauges. This is the only gauge that I can “grip, which gives me a truly full Jazz sound (versus flat-wounds which are too slippery for me).

These strings do seem a little bright to my ears at first; but they mellow-out after a few hours of playing. Plus, they last a long time! A new set sounds best for recording, using tasteful and discriminating EQ.

This gauge does take more hand-strength to play and thus can contribute more to repetitive stress injury if the musician is not wary. Build strength over time; take frequent breaks; and don™t overdo it!
