Item Description

These D'Addario EXL Nickel Round Wound Electric Guitar Strings are among the most popular nickel-plated electric guitar strings on the market from the world's largest manufacturer of strings for musical instruments.

"I use D'Addario Strings because I love the feeling of new strings, and I tried a lot of other strings but nothing felt like a new set of XL's. I can play as hard as I can and they rarely break on me." - Billy Martin of Good Charlotte

D'Addario's EXL Nickel Electric Guitar strings offer a distinct, bright tone, with excellent intonation and a "fret-friendly" nickel round wound feel that make them the top choice of guitar players of all genres around the world. The nickel-plated wrap wire is ideal for magnetic pickups, relaying the highest sound quality.

All D'Addario strings are precisely wound around a hexagonally shaped high-carbon-steel core wire by computer-controlled machines guaranteeing clear intonation, rock-solid fundamentals, and incomparable consistency in every string. The tight core tension produced through this rigorous quality-controlled process results in a harmonically rich, longer-lasting string.

D'Addario EXL Nickel Round Wound Electric Guitar Strings
D'Addario has incorporated Corrosion Intercept Technology with their environmentally friendly packaging to insure your strings are green, and fresh for the pickin'!

The application of Corrosion Intercept Technology, developed by Lucent Technologies' Bell Labs, is the most significant development in string packaging since D'Addario pioneered the environmental string package in 1992. Each Corrosion Intercept bag employs a plastic which contains a gas-neutralizing barrier in the polymer matrix. This barrier reacts with and neutralizes gasses which cause materials to tarnish, guaranteeing that your D'Addario strings are as fresh and tarnish-free as the day we packaged them. Since Corrosion Intercept bags are both environmentally friendly and completely recyclable, they'll keep our planet untarnished as well.

Also, as a result of D'Addario's Player's Points Program, several tons of packaging redeemed for D'Addario gear gets systematically recycled every year.

All D'Addario packaging is either produced from recycled materials or is completely recyclable.

Al Schnier of Moe talks about D'Addario's environmentally friendly packaging.

Great sound and feel for anything
I use these strings (either 10-52 or 11-49) on all my guitars, and they are excellent for use at any given time, being able to last a long time if taken care of and good sound and quality for their price, compared to other, more expensive strings. It may not be everyone's cup of tea, but they are good at what they do.

13-62 light baritone, best strings for B tuning in standrad scale
I've been using the 12-62 set for B tuning in 25.5 and 24.75 scale for almost 2 years now. I tried Ernie balls, elixirs, thomastik and all of them felt kinda slopy, but the D'Addario set has just the right tension for me, and for the price, it's unbeatable.
ProsNice tension Bright tone Very good price
ConsRegular durability

My go-to strings!
These have been my go-to electric guitar strings for a very long time. They sound good, the quality is consistent from set to set, just an overall good product. I use 11-52's.

Excellent strings at a great price
D'Addario EXL's are my go-to strings. I've gone through several other brands which were okay, but D'Addario seemed to break the least for me. They feel and sound great and are priced well. Next time I'll be grabbing the 10 pack.

Excellent strings
Nothing at all wrong with D'Addario's. The sound great, last reasonably well, and don't cost too much. There are tons of gimmicks out there with strings, but the truth is, most of them are about the same. D'Addario are on of a very few manufacturers who sell an 11-52 set, which I love for tuning down one step. Others sell 10-52, or 11-48, but no 11-52? Makes no sense to me. Thank goodness these guys have some common sense!

Most consistent strings and good tone
If you are recording, these are very nice. If you buy them fresh and use them within a few months, there is virtually no tonal difference from pack to pack, and I have never had a string break on me. There may be string brands which, in my opinion, have a slightly better tone (Ernie Ball, DR, etc.), but these are the most consistent I have used. Also, they have the widest variety of string sets of any string manufacturer that I know of, especially for drop tuning. I especially like their hybrid sets (10-52, 11-56, 12-60) that are great for any kind of drop tuning. Having a set like the 11-56, which is great for c# standard, but can do drop B as well is very nice. Same thing with the 12-60, which on the package is recommended C standard tuning, can also handle Drop Bb for my taste.

As far as the tone, they are quite warm, deep sounding strings in my experience. I think ernie balls are brighter and clearer sounding, but I have had ernie ball 10 gauge strings break on me before, simply tuning them up.

Current go to for heavy set, EXL145 on my les paul, ballsy drop D and i love my soundgarden, i used to use erny ball, standard 10 on it and moved up to 12 daddario, heavy seemed to go well with my agressive technique, and to contrast i play clean mostly as i didnt have much for processors growing up

Five of five
Being the most inexpensive D'Addario EXL have been my 'workhorse' for many years not depending of the gauge. I use 10-46, 10-52, 11-52, 12-54 gauges for different purposes and all of them are great.
ProsPrice, playing feel, tone
ConsMaybe the lasting time, but I'm not quite sure

I use the EXL148(12-60) set on my Ltd Ec-401 and Gibson Flying V for drop b tuning and they work great, though the low 60 get a little bit floppy in my opinion.
ProsSounds good, fairly longlasting, fair price

They Speak For Themselves
After having been through many brands and different gauge sets - I've found that D'Addario offer the most consistently good sounding, long lasting string in the largest variety of pre-made sets and individual strings.
I never hesitate to play D'Addario

EXL145 12-54
I use now EXL145 12-54 for C tuning and it's great! Heavy sound for heavy metal!
ProsVery good strings tension of 12-54 strings in C tuning (like 9-42 strings in E tuning) and good, bright sound. Good price.

Great strings on my Epi Les Paul
I've been using the 110W's with the wound 3rd string on an Epi Les Paul and love them. I had problems with G string slipping out of tune all the time and read about these and tried them. They work much better for me.
ProsGreat tone, last a long time

The "GOLD standard"
These strings are incredibly consistent from packet to packet - year to year. A nice even response and tone, with a tension that isnt too light or heavy. As an ex-professional player and a Full time luthier of the last 25 years - I use these exclusively on Electric guitars except for the heavy Brootz downtuned stuff. Can't go wrong and I have never had a weird intonation or early breakage. Very happy with this product

D'Addario EXL120BT
I've always been a D'Addario user for the past 20 years. You just can't beat them. I've used the EXL120 9-42 sets for years, and I thought I'd give these a shot. They feel good and the balanced tension is more noticeable on the wound strings when bending, but I'll probably just stick with my regular EXL120's after all, since it's what I'm used to using. Not a bad set of strings and most certainly worth trying out.
ProsLongevity, feel
