Item Description

Thomastik-Infeld JR344 Jazz Nickel Round Wound Bass Guitar Strings add a twist of character to an otherwise standard jazz bass sound.

"A highly flexible steel core gives the string a balanced feeling and a special character. The overall sound characteristics can be described as very close to the double bass." - Thomastik-Infeld

Thomastik-Infeld JR344 Jazz Nickel Round Wound Bass Guitar Strings offer a smooth, warm, and balanced tone with a round wound feel that gives it a slight edge compared to it's flat wound brother. The small diameter nickel wrap wire around the round core adds a slight bite to the upright style, without the squeak and excessive fret wear common to round wound strings.

Designed with a lower tension and gauging increases playbility, while reducing strain on the instrument's neck without sacrificing output.

Claudemysister is right

Claudemysister is right this is definitely the wrong string if you like to shred, you'd want a heavier gauge string. However it's fantastic for everything else. I preferred a 45-105 generally but tried these out and they knocked me out. I've now converted 3 basses to this string (as well as StingRay to the power rounds which are 47-107 and more suitable for heavy playing.)

These strings sound great right out of the package, deep and punchy, requiring only a light touch, fantastic for popping and slapping. Prior to this I've tried Galli, which I love, Dr Sunbeams, Fender nickel rounds, GHS Boomers, Pressurewounds, EB Slinky and Cobalts. These are truly stand outs.
  • Sound and feel
  • Expense and that is it

Highly overrated!!
June 1, 2016
These are decent bass strings however they are highly overrated. They are too light to the feel for shredders like me. However, what do I know. Only been playing and recording 40yrs! lol
  • Good tone for light jazz and country music.
  • Too light, and way too expensive.
  • Price can't be justified!

Best Round Wound Bass Strings Ever!
August 27, 2010
I discovered these strings and fell in love with them a couple of years ago, and stupid me decided to try other strings I hadn't already tried just to see if there was something better. C Rocco, Rotosound, D'Addario - to name a few of the brands I tried - all sounded good at first (up to 3-4 weeks) but failed miserably after 8 weeks. The TI JR344 will maintain it's warm tone and stay in tune longer than any round wound string out there. I changed my first set after a year....and probably didn't need to. They just don't go dead. They are very soft to the touch (and pick), low tension which only takes a few playing sessions to get used to, but sound SO BIG! I think they are the PERFECT round wound string. They're indeed expensive but you save a lot considering how infrequently you need to change them. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
