Item Description

PYRAMID Maximum Performance, pure nickel hand wound strings are round wound strings that sing! Our hand wound maximum performance pure nickel wound strings are superlative electric guitar strings made with only the finest materials. They are super musical strings with an extra long playing life. We make these premium strings in old way using a smaller diameter core wire and larger diameter of expensive pure nickel wrap wire.

The result is lower tension wound strings with great “feel”, which have brilliance and the warmth of pure nickel. Our pure nickel hand wounds produce an excellent tone and timbre, great for all types and styles of music. A warm, reed-like tonal quality that is essential for blues is easily achievable with our strings.

The best string I've played
Since I've tried them, I just can't go back to other strings. They have all the warmth of pure nickel and they have a nice shimmer/brightness when they're fresh. They take a bit longer to break in than some other strings but once it's done, the feel is great. They're worth the extra money!
ProsWarm, Bright when new, Great Feel.
ConsA bit more expensive than other brands

Excellent for Jazz & Blues
These are on my 1964 ES 335, used mainly for blues, but some rock & jazz. They surpass my recent favorite previous favorites, which were the Thomastik Blues Sliders. The Max performance are more dynamic, clearer, better balanced, feel great under fingers, and bend nicely. I do use Thomastik Be Bop strings for jazz on my 1970 Gibson L5-CES.
ProsNone.
ConsNone.

Great sound and longevity
I had someone turn me on to these a couple of years ago. They are by far my favorite strings. Great feel, sound, tension and they seem to last forever. Just be careful to pinch the ends of the wound strings when installing a or you can end up with a dead string.
ProsSuperior life, feel, tension, tone.
ConsInstallation is a little more tricky than other strings.

Excellent Strings ......
When I first read about Pyramid strings in Tone Quest Report I was unsure about the review. But once I put on my first set of Pure Nickel strings I was hooked!!! These strings open up a new world of tone that you can not get with other strings...... if you are after true vintage type tone, clean like plucking the strings from the inside of a piano, then try Pyramid Strings!
ProsEverything...... may be pricey for some but worth it!
ConsNone...........

Great strings!!!
I heard of these through a pro Luthier so I tried them. They stay in tune better than any other strings and last the longest..
ProsStay in tune better than any other strings out there.
ConsThey don't keep brilliance as long as other strings.

great but not for everybody..............
I love these strings because I go for the "fundamental" pitch. They tend towards flatwounds but not as "flat". I grew up / started playing around 1970 so this is the sound I heard a lot from old recordings. If you like the lively "buzzy" treble of bright strings, these aren't for you.
ProsBeautiful even sound, long life. Lots of fundamental pitch without the buzzy overtones of many "slinky" style strings.
ConsNot as bright as "typical" slinky style strings.

Love these strings
On my 58 VOS Les Paul these strings sound amazing. Love the richness of the tone and they really do feel lighter than their gauge. Will be buying more soon.
ProsVintage tone Great feel
ConsNone I can find

Not worth the money.
Tried 10-46. I will say my opinion. This is a normal string. The bass is weak ringing there is absolutely. The first string stretch well. Spend the money on something else.

Amazing Strings!
These strings are amazing! I used to play with the Ernie Ball - rock n' roll strings, which were great, but after using thses strings, I miss their sound and feel every time i have different strings on my guitar!
ProsFeel, sound, sustain, look.
Consnothing.

My favorites
I have a bluesy/jazz/fusion playing style and these strings are perfect for me. They bend easily, work with both my hard tail and FR guitars. Stay in tune and sound fantastic. Try a set. You'll be convinced.
ProsEasy bends, fantastic sound
Consno downsides that I have found
