D'Addario Humidipak Replacement Packette - 3 Pack (PW-HPRP-03)

D'Addario brings you Boveda's patented technology as part of our instrument care line. The Two-Way Humidification System (formerly Humidipak) is the only maintenance free, two-way humidity control system for guitar. It automatically maintains the optimal 45-50% relative humidity level within your instrument case, eliminating the guesswork and potential mess related to refilling a humidifier. Unlike refillable humidifiers, this system provides true “two-way” purified humidity control by adding and removing moisture on demand. No more manual adjustments based on seasonal changes, geographic locations, temperature, or other factors.

The Two-Way Humidification System comes with 3 Humidipaks and 2 soft mesh pouches that will not harm your instrument's finish. These packets last between 2 and 6 months and should always be kept in a sealed environment like a hard-shell case. Once the packets become firm, discard and replace using the 3 refills that come in the D'Addario Two-Way Humidification Replacement Pack (PW-HPRP-03 - sold separately). This all new, reformulated, patented two-way humidification system maintains 45-50% relative humidity which eliminates all maintenance and guesswork. This system is recommended by taylor guitars and others for maintaining the stability and playability of your instrument.

  • The first two-way humidity control that maintains a constant 45%-50% relative humidity level within your instruments case
  • Protects your instrument against warping, cracks and other damage cause by lack of humidification
  • No more manual adjustments based on seasonal changes, geographic locations, temperature, or other factors Unlike refillable humidifiers
  • Eliminates the guesswork and anxiety of maintaining your instrument’s proper humidity level
  • No water, no drips, no mess
  • Custom made by Boveda for D'Addario

Test before you trust
July 3, 2020
I must've gotten a bad batch, the dehumidification does NOT get the airspace into the 40-60% range.

I tested in freezer bag, some 70% basement air, two hygrometers and a bare humidipak (without the cloth cover). Within 2 hours the airspace in the bag was brought to 65%, impressive, however it did not go any further the rest of the day. It looked like it was hovering around 65%, which is contrary to the advertising. These were two salt-tested hygrometers to measure.

So I will have to augment with silica gel packs to get it in range, the humidipak would then compete with the silica gel to keep the air from drying out too much hopefully in the 50% range. This is assuming the humidipak humidification function is working better than its de-humification function.
ProsSuper convenient to manage guitar requirements when the guitar closet is down for AC maintenance and power outages, and vacations. Would recommend with my caveats.
ConsYou can't trust to do the job. Need to augment with silica gel packs. Need to test with calibrated hygrometer.

Second most important thing to keep in your guitar case ... after your precious guitar.

Seriously, it does the job, just have one in there.
Change the pack when they get hard.
You'll be glad you had one in during winter.

Also, if worried about travelling, CSA or what ever.
They never asked me to get them out of there.

Simple to use and inexpensive enough, compared to your investment.
ProsIf it's good enough for Taylor, it's more than good enough for me

My house in Utah is about 35% RH nearly year round. This product is invaluable in keeping the guitar at about a steady 45%. You really are guessing with sponges or apple cores. Yes, these are kind of pricey but once you get the system the refills are about $13 for a good three months in my climate. Sometimes a bit longer. I've read you can renew them but I've been reluctant to try. Preserving the life of a good instrument is worth the $$. We all spend money on recreation or entertainment. What else gives more pure joy than playing your guitar?
ProsConfidence, convenient

Humidipack works but is expensive
April 13, 2011
Pros: easy to use, not messy, separate packs for hanging on strings and for the neck area, little monitoring necessary (don't have to fill or check every few days like other systems)
Cons: refill packs last from one to three months in humid conditions to only a week or two in dry conditions (winter in Wisconsin) and therefore can be quite expensive to keep buying refill packs.
Product is well designed but expensive - plus, you're throwing away a lot of stuff (landfill)
