Item Description

America's #1 acoustic guitar string, Elixir Strings, provide playability and long lasting tone that top artists worldwide depend upon! These Elixir Strings capture the sweet spot of that unique phosphor bronze tone.

Every time you play your guitar, tiny bits of you are left to invade the windings to contaminate your strings and kill your tone. Elixir Strings are the only strings that keep dirt out of the windings by coating the entire string. Our ultra-thin NANOWEB Coating provides a bright, lively tone that players tell us lasts longer than any other string, uncoated or coated. This means you buy fewer sets of strings, change them less often and trust your guitar is ready to go whenever you are.

These classic Elixir guitar strings provide warm tone and smooth response of "played-in" strings right out of the box!

"I don't know how Elixir managed to improve upon the best, but they did! I find the new Elixir Plated Plain Steel strings require even less maintenance and last considerably longer, while maintaining the same excellence in tone, clarity and intonation I have come to expect from Elixir Strings," said world-renowned guitar player Johnny Hiland.

Elixir's original POLYWEB® Coating on this 80/20 Bronze string offers a balanced tone with a smooth responsive feel which reduces finger squeak, while lasting 3-5 times longer.

The #1 acoustic guitar string in the US, Elixir Strings doesn't just coat the wrap wire, but coats the entire string preventing corrosion and contamination from accumulating on the surface and in the space between the windings.

Anti-Rust plating on all Elixir's plain steel strings resist tone-deadening corrosion, giving you a clean feel every time you play your guitar.

My favorite acoustic string that last forever!
I love these strings. I have evil acid sweat that kills regular acoustic strings dead very quickly. These stand up well to the horrors of my sweat and stay bright and full for months and months. God bless Elixir strings!

Fantastic Feel and nice bright tone
These strings feel great. If you've been putting in a ton of hours and your fingers are sore. These strings are the answer. The coating really is easy on the fingers and the tone is solid. Definitely not going to give you that natural woody sound. However the sound is bright and balanced. Good volume.
ProsGreat feel, nice bright tone.
ConsIf your looking for natural, true tone of your guitar. This might not be the answer for you.

Excellent, long-lasting, pro strings...
I work all the time in NYC. Especially when the weather's hot I go through strings sometimes weekly. So I'm loving the Elixirs, especially on my acoustic. This is a great set, and depending on how much I play a particular box, I can have a set on for year. So they pay for themselves. And I just love picking up the guitar and having a set of strings that feels fresh even after multiple gigs. Great purchase!
ProsLong lasting; sound fresh and can just change unwounds and keep 'em going for a long time--even after multiple gigs. Pretty consistent.
ConsAfter all the years I've bought them, I did get one bad set that didn't last long--the D string died uncharacteristically. Only happened once in years of purchase.

Good strings
Elixir makes good quality long lasting strings, these polyweb strings last a very long time. If you don't mind a kind of muted sound and sustain, and want longevity polywebs are a great choice for you. Great for overly bright guitars.

Fantastic, long lasting strings
I can easily kill a set of regular strings in short order. They just don't last very long for me. Elixirs last a couple of weeks, even during recording, when I am playing vigorously for hours. Best strings on the market and worth the extra money.

Absolute Best Guitar Strings Ever Bought
I've only ever bought very low quality, cheap strings for the past 5 years that I have had my guitar. When I started looking for high quality strings, I was directed to Elixirs and found they sound magnificent and have a wonderful tone. I will definitely buy these strings again in the future.

Great, unique, durable strings.
These strings are the only ones that use the polyweb method. Which not only helps to avoid rust, but reduces string squeak too, and is easy on the fingers.
ProsDurable Reduces string squeak Reduces finger pain.
ConsAfter a while, the polyweb coating starts to shred off.

the official string of bcustom guitars&basses
Excellent - By far the best string ever. Been playing 43 years, building for 13. No other string qualifies as the official string of bcustom guitars&basses!
ProsGood dealing with strings&beyond. Got some bad strings in an order, and S&B replaced them for free. I recommend them to my customers when they need a new set of Elixirs.

Musician for over 50 years
Elixer strings are the ifs, ands or buts. The sound quality will outlast any other string. Period! I play country and bluegrass music and have a problem with an oil in my skin that would just destroy a set of strings in one or two jobs. Not Elixers! They'll last me 6 times as long as any other string I've tried. Try them. You won't be sorry.

ONLY strings I buy
I have been a loyal supporter of polywebs since they came out. I have tried others when retailers were out of the polywebs. I have tried almost all of the other coated strings on the market. Nothing compares to the polywebs. I even far prefer the original polywebs to the "new and improved" nanowebs. I think the polys are brighter out the box and last far longer than the nanos. You just can't beat these strings on an acoustic. I will rarely if ever use anything else. The polys are also durable. I play in a lot of different/weird tunings a lot. So I am constantly tuning up and down and all over the place. These last longer and gold up better to the stress than just about any others I've had. And I love buying my strings from Mike! He always hooks it up.
ProsBright, long-lasting tone. Durability. Everything.

Best strings I have ever picked
These strings feel like silk on my fingers yet they giveoff a nice bright, but rich tone, which is perfect for bluegrass. They seem to last forever.
