I have these on all my C# standard guitars and they feel great, sound great, and last a good while. You can't go wrong with Ernie Ball!

Great tone

If you like a 9-42 set tuned to E standard, I would recommend these for B standard on a 25.5 scale. This is a unique set, the only 12-56 set that I know of. I like to use it tuned to C and B standard. The only problem I have is the same with the Beefy Slinkies: the plain g string. That 24p string is really thick and does not vibrate too well. The sustain of that string suffers because of the thickness. It bends ok if you downtune low enough, but the tension on that string is just out of place with the other plain strings. It should be a 20p or a 24w. I'm not sure what their reasoning is to have such a thick 3rd string.

4 stars, because great tone, but the 3rd string is too thick for me.
  • great tone
  • 3rd string too thick

Great sound.

I use these for C standard tuning. I switch out the .24 for a .20. These have the tension I want and sound great.

Great, but not for every guitar

I've bought these for obvious reasons, detuning. As I play in drop tunings such as drop D or drop C I need really heavy strings. Well I should have stayed with slinky top, heavy bottom, but I had to try these. They're not so good for cheaper guitars, as much as you mod them, or it might happen that my guitar is sh*t.
  • Heavy, they keep the good shape for a long time.
  • muddy tone on top strings...

I bought this for tuning a guitar in D.
Bright and fresh sound.
The tension is good and they last long like new.
