Nice, smooth sound quality
After going back and forth between these and the EXL130 8-38 strings fpor many months, and doing recording shootout tests (I posted them on YouTube - search on 8-38 strings shootout d'addario ernie ball), I settled on the extra slinky 8-38 strings. Nice, smooth sound, barre chords are very harmonious, you can't hear individual strings much because of the harmony. The sound is very smooth, not gruff and rough which tends to be a hallmark of much thicker strings. And 8-38 is what the doctor ordered for minimizing the risk of tendinitis. I tried the cobalt 8-38 strings, which have a more powerful sound and you hear each individual string. It may or may not be worth double the price, I've haven't decided yet.
