Item Description

Ernie Ball M-Steel Slinky Electric Guitar Strings

The loudest, most expressive strings ever created. Provides increased output, frequency response, and strength.

M-Steel, short for Maraging Steel, is a superalloy used in high stress applications for the aerospace and defense industries.  The wound strings are comprised of a patented Super Cobalt alloy wrapped around a Maraging steel hex core wire, producing a richer and fuller tone with powerful low end response.  M-Steel plain strings are comprised of a specially tempered steel for maximum fatigue resistance.  A patented winding of steel around the ball end of the plain strings reduces slippage, breakage and stays in tune better than conventional plain strings.

These sound fantastic for metal
If you are looking for the absolute brightest, crunchiest, loudest, harmonically richest strings, then I would recommend these. The only thing, is that I have read they can wear out your frets if you don't have stainless steel frets. I do not, so I only played them a few times and took them off, and do not know from personal experience. There is a night and day difference between these strings and any other string I have tried. For me, It is worth the money if you are recording, or simply have to have the brightest, crunchiest possible tone. They do feel rough, but not overly so, and I got accustomed to them quickly.

10 Stars for tone, 2 stars for feel = 4 star review
First of all, these are really great strings. They are very loud and very bright-even unplugged these strings are very loud! I'd give them 10 stars for tone! But I really do not like the feel of these strings. They are rough to the touch and feel almost like fine sandpaper. Some people might like this "grabby" feel but I do not. Slides are very uncomfortable with these strings. Plus, I really can't justify paying $12-$13 a set for these. I only play in church once a week and play at home and with friends. So I'd say they're definitely worth a try but they're not the strings for me. I'll stick with the Regular Lime Green Slinky set.
ProsGreat Tone Loudness!
