Dunlop creates yet another version of the famed Herco pick
For many years there was the original grey 'Flex 75'. Then came the 'Vintage 66' advertised as a close recreation of the famed Herco picks of the 60's/70's. A new fabrication different from the familiar Flex 75, and available in 3 gauges of thickness as a bonus. And then suddenly comes the new 'Holy Grail' as yet another recreation of the classic Herco. Again a new fabrication on a familiar pick. All 3 comprised of different material.
Dunlop continues to 'reproduce' a pick it never actually produced itself. I question the advertising and wonder how many versions it will take Dunlop to arrive at a true reproduction of the Herco (those who have original Hercos' state Dunlop is not there yet).
I will say however I really like the Holy Grail over the Vintage 66, as I liked the 66 over the Flex 75. So things are going in the right direction for me ! My main annoyance is the bags of unused 66 and 75 I still have left over.
ProsGreat tone, feel, articulation, slow wearing
ConsOnly available in packs of 6 as of writing this.
Confusing to the uninitiated discerning between the Flex 75 / Vintage 66 / Holy Grail
Hesitant to stock up as I'm half expecting yet another Herco version to suddenly appear.
