Excellent feel and tone
If you like the D'Addario Jazz/Rock 011-049 set definitely give these a shot. The slightly heavier low E, G and B strings and the slightly lighter A all combine to make a set that feels very consistent and, of course, balanced set that feels great under your fingers without the need for drastic changes to your setup.
ProsGreat XL tone. Great feel.

Made my Gibson Tal Farlow come alive!
Had messed around with various brands, gauges and flat or round wounds for ages. Not being a died-in-the-wool jazzer, I decided to go for round wounds with a plain G. The 11 to 50 Balanced Tension set made my beautiful Gibson Tal Farlow come alive and sing!!! I'm more of a funk/rhythm and blues player and they suit my style perfectly; great for jazzy lines as well, but if that's your specialty a set of Thomastic flat wounds might suit you better. But for me, these are perfect. The "Balanced Tension" aspect seems to have evened out the guitar's response, and I couldn't be happier.
ProsGreat sound and feel. Even response and volume.
ConsYes, probably should be the same price as "Unbalanced Tension" strings...

As Advertised
The strings do exactly what they set out to do. Each string feels identical in terms of tension; bending a full step, for example, feels the same no matter what string you're on. It's not going to be for everybody, but I can definitely see the appeal. I can't say for certain, but the tuning stability seemed better with the balanced tension. That could've just been a coincidence or power of suggestion from reading other peoples comments about them, but it seemed like it anyway. As someone with acidic skin who normally goes with coated strings, these wore out pretty quickly. But they aren't made or advertised as such, so I can't fault them too harshly for that.
ProsBalanced tension Tuning stability (I think)
ConsDoesn't last as long as coated strings

Balanced tension- would recommend
I tried out almost every gauge of D'addario round wounds lately and I have to say, balanced tension was definitely noticeable. I'm really surprised there aren't more brands out there pushing this- you can really feel the evenness over the strings.
ProsSound good, great feeling. Everything feels right- each string feels as tight as the others. Makes bending very precise
ConsNone.

A Revelation
Having all of the strings balanced in terms of tension has been a serious revelation. My playing feels much more focused and effortless now. The strings are just as durable and tonally pleasing as usual, but the playability and predictability of pressure needed to fret lead lines and chords is really much better.
ProsLogical. Balanced. Great Tone.
ConsPrice. They should not be a special item. Logically, all strings sets should be balanced and the price should come down to at least the going rate for a common set.
