go to classical strings
I've been playing theses since I could get them in the early 80s. Before that I played Augustine blacks. I've played and tried all sorts of different strings. These are the ones I like
ProsI love the treble tone bass is mellow and I've gone thru stages of not liking that. But, I love the balance between the trebles and basses
Consthey wear out quick. I change before every gig. But, they are cheap.

Popular but meh
Despite their low price and high popularity, I've been disappointed by these strings on all of my guitars. On my girlfriend's Cˇrdoba Dolce, though, they sound somewhat better---not dull and muddy as on my instruments. Longevity seems at least average, response is good. Despite being "normal tension," they feel a bit loose by comparison to some other popular brands' "normal" tension. This probably makes them a good choice for beginners, but we tend to prefer these in high tension (EJ46) for playing feel.
ProsFair price/quality ratio. Warm, round tone.
ConsCan sound quite good or quite horrible, depending on the instrument.

Long-lasting, great quality
I use these for my Alhambra 6p and they really blend well with it. I get a big sound and a warm tone which is just what I need. Right now I'm at the college-level and for that price, it's a really good deal.

Well-balanced unexpensive strings
These seem to be great strings for my solid spruce top guitar. They sound good, have a nice, balanced, sweet tone and last me 2-3 months of practice, so they are very good for everyday practicing. Great value for the price and haven't found anyplace better than Strings and Beyond for speed of shipping and customer service. Besides, there is a possibility to order spare single strings for the Pro-Arte series here. P.S. They settle in rather quickly.
ProsSweet tone, long life. Very good value for money + possibility to order spare single strings for the Pro-Arte series here.

Nice strings but overhipped
I always liked the warm and round tone of these strings on expensive guitars, but on student and even advanced 500$ guitas, these strings are far from best option available. I don't fine the price an advantage since these strings last less then average, even for a nylon set. A normal tension set starts losing it's tone after only 2 weeks. The D strings usually breaks on my guitar for less then two months. This is ok for a 3-4$ string set, but it's a shame compared to a Luthier product which lasts twice as much and sound twice as loud, for a comparable price.
ProsAvailable everywhere Nice , worm , round sound first two weeks
ConsTone lose after only two weeks playing. Strings usually break faster then other brand offerings. If you want brilliance in sound - stay away !
