About Lord Huron

In a crowded indie folk-rock scene, Lord Huron manages to stand out. The band broke out in a big way in 2017 with their single “The Night We Met,” which has been certified triple-platinum by the RIAA and is closing on two billion (with a B) Spotify listens. Their last three albums have topped the U.S. folk charts, but the band is so much more, fusing classic rock and roll, country-western, surf rock and other genres into an unmistakable sound.

Though the band was formed in Los Angeles, its roots trace to the Okemos, Michigan hometown of founder Ben Schneider. He wrote his first songs there and named the band for nearby Lake Huron. After recording early EPs solo, Schneider expanded the project to a full band, with guitarist Tom Renau, bassists Miguel Briseño and drummer Mark Barry filling out the current lineup.

Guitar Strings Lord Huron Uses

For the warm, rich rhythm that forms the backbone of Lord Huron music, Schneider and Renaud use Ernie Ball 2220 Power Slinky 11-48 Electric Guitar Strings . These nickel-wrapped medium-gauge Slinkies are known for their durability and consistently full sound, and the treble strings are tin-plated to balance them better with the bottoms. As tough as they are, the strings will eventually wear down, which is where the D’Addario Guitar Pro-Winder comes in. This tool makes it easy to unwind old strings and wind new ones — and it has wire cutters to clip the ends of the strings for no flopping or scratching.
