Item Description

Thomastik-Infeld Precision Flat Wound Mandolin Strings are the clear leader in producing quality sound from your Mandolin.

"They have a steel core made of special alloy with high elasticity and durability. The sound of the Mandolin strings is clear and brilliant." - Thomastik-Infeld

Thomastik-Infeld Precision Flat Wound Mandolin Strings offer brilliant, clear tone with a smooth flat wound feel from the polished chrome steel wrap wire (E-string is the only tin plated silver steel string). The elastic steel alloy core provides a high ratio of inertia to musical vibration, giving the strings a true ring instead of a metallic twang. This lends the string to fast fingering, optimized by a tremolo style of play.

Supplied in pairs, Thomastik-Infeld mandolin strings should be changed two strings at a time.

I strung these on a Big Muddy M-11. This is a flat top, flat backed mandolin so I use the lightest strings I can. The "mittel" Thomastik mandolin strings are more equivalent in gauge to light mandolin strings commonly available here in the USA.

It's like they were made for this mandolin. Every note rings strong and true, and the flatwound strings feel great on the fingers. Only takes a couple twists of the tuners to get it up to pitch. I'm especially impressed by the increased volume and brightness I have on the A and E strings.

Raves for TI strings! Indeed they are not inexpensive, but they are worth it. The feel of flat wound strings makes gentle on my finger tips. The sound is exquisite. That these strings offer an extended play life seals the deal.

These Thomastik flat wound steel strings are slippery like Elixir but without a coating that rubs off. They don't rust and they last forever. So although they may be more expensive than many other brands, the tone and longevity more than offset the cost.

These strings have a warm, rounded tone, with unique depth and color. Furthermore, they last for a very long time, redeeming some of their high initial price. What they do not have is a bright edge to the tone. If you are looking for a brilliant sound, these are not for you. For warmth and color, these are the best.
