Item Description

ROTOSOUND JAZZ BASS 77

JAZZ BASS 77 SHORT SCALE | 40-90

SHORT SCALE 760mm | 30"

The 'Monel 'flatwound bass string that's been awarded many accolades since its inception in 1966. Wound with the premium alloy Monel, Jazz Bass strings sound deeper and offer more resistance than the more commonly used stainless steel wrap.

The RS77 Jazz Bass set has found favour with so many of the worlds top leading artists including the likes of Oasis, Steve Harris, Roger Waters and Herbie Flowers.

The build spec remains a close kept secret but the Monel 400 tape used in the strings making brings out the true character of these strings over the competition who are happy to use the much less costly flattened stainless steel.

These strings are still manufactured the "old fashioned way" by hand on machines that James How built at the end of the 1960's.

Worst bass strings I've ever played.
May 24, 2022
Maybe I just received a defective set, but these Rotosound RS77S flat wound strings were horrible. None of the strings held consistent tuning up the fingerboard in relation to their neighboring string (it had nothing to do with the guitar's setup). The E string had a dead, flat sounding tone that sounded unmatched with the other strings.
After a week of trying everything I could think of I removed the Rotosounds and reinstalled an old set of La Bella flats; problems solved.
