Item Description

PYRAMID Monel Classics - Monel Steel

Monel steel - decades of this material had been almost forgotten by the strings manufacturers.  Here is the proud announcement of the return of the real Monel strings.

Until the early 70's either steel or Monel was used as Pure Nickel Electric Guitar Strings material for manufacturing. Unfortunately, this trend was lost towards finding something cheaper, thus nickel plated steel strings. The nickel-plated steel strings were then wound on a hexagonal steel core and mass-produced.

These Monel steel strings are manufactured back in the old tradition and wrap the wire Monel a round steel core. If you are looking for an alternative to the Pure Nickel strings, then the Monel Classics well fit the bill. The Monel Classics include the great tonal gap between the nickel-plated steel and the Pure Nickel strings.

Wow!! How come I didn't use it before? (.011-.048 Special)
Hello everyone, I own an early 2000's Fender Japan TL71-58 (a.k.a. 1971 Telecaster Reissue) which was heavily modified electronicly. The guitar has Bare Knuckle Blackguard 68 Stagger PU's set which is very bright, focused, percussiv and ferocious (which is really authentic sound for this era's Fenders). The problem was to find the right set of strings to get a balanced yet clear sound. I've tried several type of strings: Pure Nickel hex cores (Tamed the highs but less presence as well) Nickel Plated Steel hex cores (Ear piercing) Titanium Coated hex cores (Ditto as NPS) Then I read about Pyramid Strings and their Monel Classic Round Cores and how they might be the missing link between PN and NPS. I've ordered 2 sets of .011-.048 Specials and finally got them yesterday. Immediately, I've strung my guitar (working according to instructions as round core strings need special way of handling). At first, it was a bit strange for me. The feel, the sound, etc. etc. But, I've also read that the strings need about a day to settle in after stinging, so I waited and... lo and behold!!! It looks like my guitar received a new life. The sound is bright (but not abrasive). Definition is excelent and the strings are really easy on the fingers. And Last but not least, this is how an early 70's style Telecaster ought to sound like. Finally, I believe that my search is over. Highly, highly recommended.
Pros* Great feel * Brought the true colours of my guitar * Easy on the fingers * Superb balanced sound
Cons* Please note that you need to follow carefully how to string round core strings * I should have known about these strings much earlier

11-48 set. Ibanez jsm100 scofield
Fat, round, smooth, no harshness, great string definition neck or bridge. I Like the tones these strings produce from this guitar. Ibanez Japan JSM100 stock IMHO Tends to have a little too much high end with nickel wound steel, too flat with pure nickel, these are as goldi locks said "just right" in between those. I like monel alloy strings. Play mostly clean through Klon Clone, j rockett blue note, Evans AH200, weber california 112, jazz, slight edge of breakup occasionally.
