Martin MA540 SP Phosphor Bronze Authentic Acoustic Guitar Strings Light 12-54

MA540 - Gauges:12-16-25-32-42-54

These strings are engineered with the performer in mind and they will always stand up to rigorous practice and performance schedules. We start with our highest tensile-strength core wire, then tin-plate it on all six strings for added corrosion resistance; because what you don't see matters! When coupled with our highest quality wrap wire you get consistent true tone that you can count on song after song. Available in 80/20 Bronze and 92/8 Phosphor Bronze. Martin Authentic Acoustic SP® strings offer excellent tuning stability, corrosion resistance and great playability.

Sound and Feel Real Good
I am a big fan of uncoated strings with Martin at the top of my list. When these new Authentic uncoated SP's came out i bought a bunch of the old uncoated strings (love them) and one pack of Authentic.
After 3 days playing i wish i just bought just the new Authentic strings. (Based on one set and one Collings guitar).
The sound is rich and balanced.....different yet still Martin strings.
I get 3 months out of previous uncoated strings at which time they start to discolour but still sound ok; up to about 4 months then for sure need a change. (I also clean once a week and use a XLR8 or similar string lube/cleaner/conditioner).
I am very interested to see how these new uncoated Authentic strings hold up.
The only con i can see with the new Authentic's is the sure has gone up but it is probably more in line with the competitors and the costs of today. Corporations typically are very aware of where their prices are.
ProsWhat a clean, bold, articulate string. I didn't think they could song better but they do.
ConsPrice....too bad they went up.

Great update
Great job Martin! I€™ve tried both 80/20 and PB in 12-54 & PB in 13-56 and can happily say that these strings really are better than the previous versions. The package is gorgeous though I find it hard to see if they are PB or 80/20 which is my sole complaint.

The strings look and feel fresh and once in tune they stay that way! Playability is easier, especially in medium, but they still sound amazing with a pick which, to me, the flexible core series does not. Sustain is incredible and with about 16 hours on this set they still sound new! Big sounds with clarity.
ProsFresh looking and feeling out of the box. Stay in tune excellent and string life has been better. Feels just a bit easier to play and there is a smooth feel with less string noise. They seem to have actually made everything better!
ConsOnly it can be harder to tell 80/20 and PB apart, but most people use one or the other so just blind guys like me can?t see it.
