La Bella Golden Superior Classical Guitar Strings

The 900 Golden Superior Set Contains Gold Nylon Trebles and polished Golden Alloy wound basses.  Especially designed for the concert performer, the smooth surface on the basses allows the player to shift positions without any noise or squeak.  Highly polished, these basses are recommended for both studio recording and live performances.

900B Golden Superior strings also have polished Golden Alloy basses but include Black Nylon Trebles.

Looking for character - found it
My nylon-strung acoustic/electric is inexpensive but has a good, solid low end. So I was looking for more character from the three treble strings. Other brands have tended to be nondescript in this respect. These strings certainly have character. Quite lively and bright. Well worth the experimentation at S&B's prices. However, I found the material hard on my fingers (liked the lack of finger noise on the wound strings, though) and the treble strings are generally short on sustain. This is on my cheap-ish guitar, remember. If your guitar has some good natural resonance, this may not be an issue. For me, the quest continues.
ProsGood sounding strings. Great price discount.
ConsNot compelling enough to end the search.

La Bella 900 Golden Superior strings
These strings really surprised me. They are bright and project well and have a really nice, full sound. Surprisingly, I really like the look of the all-gold strings. It adds a cool different look to my guitar. I got the black ones too, but haven't gotten to them yet.
ProsBright tone Good Projection Look great High quality strings
ConsTrebles seem to take quite a while to settle in and stop stretching, but it's really not a big deal. I might not have stretched them well enough during install.

Smooth, nice, balanced strings.
These are my favorite strings for a 2003 Classical Guitar built by Jim Blilie. They are very nice sounding. They have golden colored treble strings with golden basses. They are not too bright and not to mellow. The basses are polished to cut back on shifting noise. Very smooth. I love these.
ProsSmooth, nice sounding strings. Polished basses. All strings are golden colored.
ConsNothing, but an improvement would be to add the melted ends to the trebles to save tying a knot to avoid a treble string slipping. See the Muriel Anderson strings by GHS.

Great sounding strings
I've often noted that certain string sets seem to suit individual guitars. I bought these out of the blue for my Aria classical guitar and was really struck by how great they sounded compared to any other strings (and I've tried many over the years) I've had on it. Perhaps it's just that they suit this guitar, but they have a sound that is rich, smooth, balanced and clear - interestingly, the students in my class recognized the difference in sound immediately.
