Item Description

When you need a thumb pick for your guitar, the Jim Dunlop Zookies sold at Strings and Beyond are a popular choice at an affordable price.

Zookies thumb picks from Strings and Beyond feature a 3-angle tip with options of 10 degrees, 20 degrees or 30 degrees so you can choose based on your personal preference. The angle options allow the player to have a more natural hand position as well as better string contact. This is achieved by the pick's construction. When you play the guitar with this pick, the tip will be parallel to the string so that you don't need to fight to have good technique. Use your Zookie or Dunlop thumb picks immediately because there is no "wear-in time" required, and the secure fit will be comfortable and easy to use.

These Zookie thumb picks are a great deal at Strings and Beyond. Order your thumb picks and other guitar picks and accessories from Strings and Beyond today!

Angle is great but frustrated with size
Many friends and I are jazzed about how great it is to have the angle different than that of our thumb. It's surprising angled picks didn't manifest long ago. I have large hands but, on appearance, my thumb is no fatter than most adult males. So, why aren't there XL and 2XL picks? (Zookies or otherwise) I put on the large Zookie L-20 and the playing is great but my thumb aches and turns purple soon thereafter from the pressure. Advice has been to put the pick in hot water to widen it but that changes the shape and it feels that it isn't secure afterwards. - Frustrated
ProsThe angled pick helps produce a fifth string drone that isn't as loud and overbearing in relation to the other strings.
ConsThere are no XL or 2XL sizes and there are plenty of us out here with fairly wide thumbs.

Simply feels part of the thumb
Super picks, nice attack, great crisp tone, I’m using m10’s. Size easily adjusted with a little hot water, would totally recommend these zookie picks.....just try them I’ll be surprised if you aren’t impressed.
ConsDifficult to get in Australia

The best thumb around
Like all you other steel pickers, I've tried every pick made! Finally found Zookies! wouldn't use anything else. I use the L-20
ProsPerfect fit, stays on!
ConsNot really a con, but they are sized on the small side. I have medium size fingers, but have to use the Large Zookie. I bought a bag of the Medium size, now looking for someone to give them too.

Absolutely The Best
I've been a pedal steel guitar player for over 45 years. I've tried just about every kind of thumb pick there is! I came across the Zookies about 8 years ago. I'm probably not the only one, but, I only have a 1/2 thumb on my right hand because of an accident over 35 years ago. The position of my pick is very important. The L-30 is what I use, and I have to stretch the pick to get it on and it stays put. I love my Zookies!

Great thumbpicks
Great tone, good feel - much better than the National tortoise shell (for me).
Prosstrong, bright attack don't slip on finger easily sturdy angled edge gives more natural position and added control
Conssized smaller than some picks I have medium sized hands but medium cut off blood supply to thumb fairly quickly

The only thumb pick for me!
I first learned bout Zookies thumb picks on the Banjo Hangout forum. I'd been having some issues with string contact using a traditional thumb pick. Not knowing which angle I needed, I ordered the 10, 20 and 30 to try out. Thankfully, Strings and Beyond allows you to purchase single picks (instead of multiples like most other sites) along with their incredible prices! The slight angle of the 10 turned out to be ideal for me, and now I can order several more as back-ups. Thank you, Strings and Beyond!

My go to thumb picks!!
I have tried so many thumb picks over the years that I have lost count. Not knowing what angle degree would work best for me, I bought all three angled degrees , 10 ,20,30. These have a definite advantage over any other conventional thumb pick I have used. There is much better contact with the string, better tone, and they are just down right comfortable to play with. I use the 30 degree the most but hey, they all work quite well .The Zookies just make sense when you use a thumb pick. I could never use another thumb pick after using a Zookie!! And the price... a steal !!! Plus the great service I receive from Strings and Beyond = one totally satisfied customer!!!!
