Item Description

Preferring picks with a bright tone and biting attack, Hetfield looked to Dunlop for the perfect tool for his fierce downward picking style.

Based on a vintage tortoise-shell pick, the Black Fang is made of tough, sturdy Ultex material with a defined tone and sharp attack.

Its pointed and contoured tip gives you ultimate speed and control—perfect for players looking to unleash their tone clearer, faster, and with unrivaled precision. " It's fast, bright, and strong because of its hard point and material,” says the man himself. “It gives you everything you need—just add venom!

Still my go-to pick
I have been using these for 5 years now, easily 100 of them (most eaten by couches and gremlins) but they are amazing to this day!

They are grippier and longer lasting than tortex, and the sharp point is awesome for accuracy or heavy down picking / fast palm muting. I use all three sizes, .94 being my go-to for standard playing, but the 1.14 are amazing for firm or low tuned strings, but you get a bit more flex than a standard thick pick! I have tried a ton of brands through the years, always giving a new product a shot from time to time, and it always comes back to these guys.
ProsSharp Firm Grippy Long Lasting Cool Aesthetic
ConsMy couch eats them all

Great Pick For Rhythm Guitar Players
I came across these picks back in 2015 and have been my main guitar picks ever since. I love the feel of the pick in my hands and it suits my play style very well. The pick has a nice attack and speed that allows me to play Metal songs very easily.

For casual players, like me, a bag of 6 will last you for a year. But if you're in a band that does Thrash covers, one pick can last the whole gig (just don't drop it though haha)
ProsGood feel in the hands Nice attack (perfect for metal tunes) Lasts long
ConsHard to find when dropped on stage during a gig

Tone pick
The best pick I've ever used. Great tone, great shape. Just choose thickness you like.

Great Picks
I really like the shape and its becoming one of my favorite picks to use.
They are definitely much harder than other picks of the same thickness.

Terrible pick
Ultex is my favorite material and I like pointed picks so I gave these a go, but there are no many things I like about them. They are very thin and floppy and ultex is not soft, so there's a lot of clicking and scratching when picking. Pointed tip provides some precision over sounder tip but the fact that you're losing a lot of time getting the pick to flex back and forth makes it sloppy. I cannot see how this is good, especially for metal. Jazz style picks are so much better at that.

Great choice not only for metal players
I used this picks the last year. I'm sure that this is best choice for metal players but not only.
It has a great material that harder than more other picks in same gauge. It may like guitar players in different styles of music. I recommend to try it.
Pros- nice sape - good quality and hard material
Cons- little higher price than other Jim Dunlop Picks
