Un-freak'n Belivable
In the last 20 years, I have played just about every acoustic bass string available on the market. I decided to give the Galli G77 strings a try, since part of my gigging bass arsenal consist of a fretted acoustic, a fretless acoustic and a semi-hollow body. What you might consider a loss in brass brightness, you gain in sheer balanced and smooth tone. I have far more control of attack and finesse than I have had with any other "acoustic" strings. It is the most profound distinction with my fretless.
ProsBalanced, full-bodied tone, well crafted, easy to play
Conscertainly not as bright as brass (but that is what I wanted to get away from... personal preference)

Nice sound
I put them on an acoustic bass they I changed into fretless, nice mellow sound for this instrument. Not much volume used acoustic, but that's generally a problem with acoustic basses. I haven't tried it plugged in.
ProsNice mellow sound particularly for fretless instruments.
ConsLess volume.

The good, the bad, and the, well, good.....
Great strings, nice mellow sound, ALMOST stand-up bass tones from these strings, look nice on a black bass...
Prosgreat tone, seems to hold consistently, looks good, a LOT easier to slide on, price point was great
ConsA bit painful, the E string is a bit hard on the finger because its a bit bigger/thicker, had some issues getting them thru the bottom string holes, the winding at the bead is quite a bit thicker, seems like I'm always tuning them
