Item Description

Made with an 80/20 bronze alloy wrap, along with a layer of silk between the wrap and steel core. The silk produces a more mellow sound and makes the string feel more comfortable while reducing finger noise.

Bright sound and softer to touch
March 11, 2020
Their sound and feeling is in between regular 80/20 bronze strings and traditional silk & steel strings.
They sound bright, feel softer than regular 80/20 bronze not as much as traditional silk & steels.
Lasts as much as an uncoated 80/20 bronze strings.

Easier to play 80/20s with similar sound
January 10, 2020
I've been doing a comparison of silk & steel strings from various brands. I would say that the Earthwood 80/20 strings sound similar to regular 80/20 strings but they're a bit easier to play. Definitely not in the same boat as the Martin MA130S strings in terms of play-ability, but they are noticeably lighter feeling than regular strings. I generally prefer the sound of phosphorus bronze, but if you like chimey/boomy 80/20 and you want a little less string tension I would go with these.
Pros- Basically lighter tension 80/20s
Cons- Not as soft feeling as MA130S

soft

I bought these because my fingers were hurting. They are soft, but still livelier than regular silk and steel, but duller than standard 80/20 bronze. Would recommend these to people who's fingers hurt or who like a semi dull tone.

Nothing else like these!
April 3, 2013
They seem to be both warm and clear and articulate at the same time. I think it's the unusual combination of silk wrapping (for warmth) and the 80/20 bronze (for brightness). Honestly nothing else like these strings out there. After trying practically every acoustic string on the market I think I finally found "my strings". Give them a try, I think you'll be a convert too!
