Item Description

'The Pure Nickel .011's are on all my electrics ... I like the definition and warmth of these strings and I don't have to worry about them being too bright when they are first put on. Just right!' - Keith Urban's guitarist Chris Rodriguez

Attention blues, classic rock and rockabilly musicians looking for that warm, vintage sound. D’Addario EPN Pure Nickel Round Wound electric guitar strings provide that authentic 50s and 60s sound and a 'fret-friendly' feel. The difference is the pure nickel round wound wrap wire that produces a warmer timbre compared to the brighter tone of the 8 percent nickel-plated wrap wire used on the D'Addario EXL Nickel Round Wound Electric Guitar Strings. Like all D’Addario strings, the Pure Nickels are precisely wound on hexagonal core wires under strict quality control standards for consistency in every string.

D'Addario has incorporated Corrosion Intercept Technology with their environmentally friendly packaging to insure your strings are green, and fresh for the pickin'!

The application of Corrosion Intercept Technology, developed by Lucent Technologies' Bell Labs, is the most significant development in string packaging since D'Addario pioneered the environmental string package in 1992. Each Corrosion Intercept bag employs a plastic which contains a gas-neutralizing barrier in the polymer matrix. This barrier reacts with and neutralizes gasses which cause materials to tarnish, guaranteeing that your D'Addario strings are as fresh and tarnish-free as the day we packaged them. Since Corrosion Intercept bags are both environmentally friendly and completely recyclable, they'll keep our planet untarnished as well.

Also, as a result of D'Addario's Player's Points Program, several tons of packaging redeemed for D'Addario gear gets systematically recycled every year.

All D'Addario packaging is either produced from recycled materials or is completely recyclable.

Al Schnier of Moe talks about D'Addario's environmentally friendly packaging.

Good, old-school tone for hollowbody and acoustic too.
I use these on an ES-125, and sometimes on an oval-hole archtop Eastman. Good, loud ring, and they wear well. Wipe 'em dry if you sweat. 12s or 13s for these guitars mentioned, w/wound 3rd.

Great vintage sound and consistent quality
I've used these strings for the last 12 months now and love them, the tone of these pure nickel strings is warm and responsive, quality is consistent with each set and given I play 3 - 4 gigs per week they last around 3 weeks per set before I need to change them. I have them on all my guitars now and very happy with the quality and sound.
ProsWarm vintage sound Quailty consistent with all sets so far
ConsNone so far

Great but wish they lasted longer
I recently switched to these pure nickels after finally giving up on another brand due to long standing intonation issues. Great benders, good feel and tone. I play the 10-45 sets. Just wish I didn't have to replace them as often. They go flat fairly quickly.

Depends on the gauge
I use these in the 12 - 51 set on my Fender Jazzmaster and find them warm and long lasting and give this set a 5 star rating. However; the 10 - 45 set goes dead quickly and for me I give 3 stars.
