Item Description

Break through the sound barrier with D'Addario ProSteels Round Wound Electric Guitar Strings providing super-bright tone without the shrill overtones of other strings.

"Consistency is the key! D'Addario strings have never let me down." - Grammy Winner Larry Carlton

D'Addario ProSteels Round Wound Electric Guitar Strings offer a penetratingly bright tone, with powerfully precise lows, and a "fret-friendly" round wound feel. These corrosion-resistant ProSteels, D'Addario's brightest and most magnetic guitar strings, will give you the crunch and sustain you are looking for.

All D'Addario strings are precisely wound around a hexagonally shaped high-carbon-steel core wire by computer-controlled machines guaranteeing clear intonation, rock-solid fundamentals, and incomparable consistency in every string. The tight core tension produced through this rigorous quality-controlled process results in a harmonically rich, longer-lasting string.

D'Addario has incorporated Corrosion Intercept Technology with their environmentally friendly packaging to insure your strings are green, and fresh for the pickin'!

The application of Corrosion Intercept Technology, developed by Lucent Technologies' Bell Labs, is the most significant development in string packaging since D'Addario pioneered the environmental string package in 1992. Each Corrosion Intercept bag employs a plastic which contains a gas-neutralizing barrier in the polymer matrix. This barrier reacts with and neutralizes gasses which cause materials to tarnish, guaranteeing that your D'Addario strings are as fresh and tarnish-free as the day we packaged them. Since Corrosion Intercept bags are both environmentally friendly and completely recyclable, they'll keep our planet untarnished as well.

Also, as a result of D'Addario's Player's Points Program, several tons of packaging redeemed for D'Addario gear gets systematically recycled every year.

All D'Addario packaging is either produced from recycled materials or is completely recyclable.

Al Schnier of Moe talks about D'Addario's environmentally friendly packaging.

They do sound brighter, but not too much brighter
Compared to their regular nickel-wounds they did sound brighter, but not as big of a difference as I was expecting. I read that stainless steel strings like this will wear out your frets if you don't have stainless steel frets, so I would keep that in mind. I did not play these but a couple of times before I took them off my guitar. They do have a nice crunch to them in the upper mids, when using distortion. They do not sound harsh or too bright at all, though. Just slightly brighter than their regular nickel wounds.
