Item Description

'One of the main reasons I am playing D'Addario's is because of the Chromes. This is the quintessential fat R&B sound ... not just R&B though, it could be rock, it could be anything.' - Chris Chaney of Jane's Addiction

D’Addario ECB82 Chromes Warm/Mellow Flat Wound strings for electric bass guitar provide the low-end punch needed for today’s R&B, jazz or rock. These D’Addario strings start with a hexagonal core wire with a high carbon steel content and then they are wrapped with a flat “ribbon” wire to get them a smooth and polished feel and a warm, mellow tone. D’Addario’s precision, computer-controlled manufacturing process ensures consistency and enables a tight core tension that results in a harmonically rich, long-lasting string.

The gauges of these medium strings are 50, 70, 85 and 105. The set has a scale length of 34 inches.

Are you looking for a different D’Addario bass string or want another gauge? See Strings and Beyond’s wide selection of D’Addario bass strings.

Great strings
These were my first set of flats. Put them on my dual pickup active bass. Took some getting used to, but have come to the conclusion that I prefer them. These strings are quite a bit stiffer than rounds, but that seems to suit my style OK. The price is a bit high, but again, considering how long flats typically last, it's not a huge deal. They are brighter than I thought they would be. You can still get highs from the G string to sing out nicely. Have just purchased a second set to put on my passive jazz bass. Will post a review for them once I've installed them and tried them for a while.
ProsSmooth feel nice tone easier on the fingers
Consmaybe a bit too stiff for me pricey

Great Strings! Great Service!
I have tried all the different gauges of Chromes and have settled on the 50-105 set. This gauge has that deep thumpy tone, and yet has the ability to sit in the mix quite well. These strings are very versatile. I have played bles rock, garage rock, country and folk gigs all with basses strung with these Chromes.

Also, great service from Mike at Strings and Beyond. I received my order within a week well packaged and I couldn't be happier.

Pros- Perfect tension - Great tone - Fantastic D'Addario quality
