Item Description

D'Addario EXP Coated Phosphor Bronze Mandolin Strings provide more sound per strum than traditional non-coated strings!

"D'Addario strings do everything they're supposed to do. They stay in tune, they're consistent from set to set, sound great, and they last a long time." - Rob McCoury

D'Addario EXP Coated Phosphor Bronze Mandolin Strings offer a warm, well balanced tone, with bright intonation and a "fret-friendly" round wound feel of traditional non-coated strings, that last 3 to 4 times longer. The micro-fine EXP coating on the wrap wire, and the compound plated steel strings, resist corrosion, extending the same natural tone and feel you would get from the D'Addario J74 Phosphor Bronze Mandolin Medium Loop End .011 - .040

All D'Addario strings are precisely wound around a hexagonally shaped high-carbon-steel core wire by computer-controlled machines guaranteeing clear intonation, rock-solid fundamentals, and incomparable consistency in every string. The tight core tension produced through this rigorous quality-controlled process results in a harmonically rich, longer-lasting string.

The last set of mandolin strings you'll need
June 8, 2020
I went through many sets of mandolin strings before I decided these were the ones. DR, John Pearse, EJ74's, and EJ75's to name a few. These particular strings have a few things going for them that set them above for me: The coating which I normally do not prefer on my acoustic strings is very different on these and the only noticeable effect is that these strings sound great for a LONG time. The heavy gauge strings on the A and E courses really balance out the overall tone of the set and to my ear makes chords sound much better, especially bluegrass chop chords with root notes on these courses more often than not. Finally, the price offered by Strings and Beyond really makes it a no-brainer in terms of the cost to string-life ratio of other sets. The DR set came close but I much prefer the tone of these strings to those.

You could do a lot worse but I doubt you can do much better than this set of strings for your mandolin.
