Item Description

No bells. No whistles. Just pure, singing tone.

Martin Acoustic strings are the string of choice for musicians around the world. Tried and true, they are designed to deliver consistent quality and tone with every set. Great for daily play and appropriate for all skill levels, Martin acoustic strings are available in 80/20 Bronze, 92/8 Phosphor Bronze and Silk & Steel Folk.

"Like our guitars, each string is made carefully, precisely, using only premium materials.” — Chris Martin IV

Martin Traditional Phosphor Bronze Acoustic Guitar Strings offer a bright, rich, and warm tone. Players like this 92/8 composition due to its consistent, slightly warmer tone (compared to 80/20 Bronze) out of the box.

Cheap and nice.
Good cheap strings, with good balance, not too bright.

My favourite acoustic strings
I've used these strings for a decade as main acoustic strings. It has nice mid-high frequency. It's great for finger-style.

My favorite acoustic strings
After trying dozens of different brands of strings I keep coming back to Martin phosphor bronze custom lights. They have a very good balance of playability and warmth and I find the bass to be a bit deeper with these Martin M535 Traditional Phosphor Bronze strings than with the SP MSP4050's. From a pure tone point of view, at least on my Martin D-28, I think the Martin Marquis Lights sound the best overall. Very deep bass and sweet, not shrill highs, but (after 30 years of trying) I just can't seem to play the .012's as well as the .011's. So for now (until Marquis PB become available in .011's) I find the Martin Traditional M535 the very best strings for me. Hope this helps in your decision making process! :)
ProsWarm bright and balanced

Martin M530 strings
These strings have a really good crisp sound on my 1979 Yamaha FG-365S Acoustic guitar. They don't last quite as long as I would like but I'm willing to give up a little string life for that sharp pure sound these strings give. They are really nice strings. Try a set. They are very reasonably priced. Can’t beat the pricing and service you get from ”Strings and Beyond” djh
ProsSound and sustain.
ConsJust a little short lived.

Punchy and great for Bluegrass lead playing
I use these in 13 on my Martin D-18 Authentic and find they really punch through on bluegrass leads and is really punchy when you need it for rhythm accents. I love the open sound you get with a non-coated string and these last me a good 2 weeks playing 2 - 3 hours a day. Fantastic value.
