Item Description

The original performance capo! Perfect for 6-string acoustic & electric guitars, also works on most 12-string guitars up to the 5th fret. "This will probably revolutionise the way we think about capos - a no hassle solution for guitarists." Guitarist Magazine Gold Award, November '03
The G7th Performance Capo is a completely new approach to capo design. Using a patented wrap-spring clutch mechanism, it has none of the disadvantages of conventional guitar capos, but instead offers enhanced performance and is simple to use. Not only that, it looks and feels great!
Designer Nick Campling explains... "I've struggled to find a capo I can live with for the best part of 30 years. They all either pulled my guitar out of tune, were fiddly to adjust, or they got in the way of my hand. Some just didn't work! The G7th Performance Capo is a result of combining my product design skills with my needs as a guitarist."

G7th Performance Capo
The capo is very smooth to operate and it works great on my Taylor GS. On my Martin HD-28V it is very tricky to get it on to where there is not a buzz on the D and A strings. It can be done, but onstage between songs when you're in a hurry, it is a pain and I find myself reaching for my cheap old Kyser. The G7th does a much better job of keeping the guitar in tune when capoed, but sometimes it's just not worth the trouble. Plus, at a gig yesterday I traded instruments with the mandolin player for a song and he couldn't figure out how to get it on the neck. It's also WAY overpriced.

G7 Capo
I have two G7 capos - one for my six string and one for my 12 string. I find them to be well made and excellent in maintaining the tone and tuning on the guitar. The G7 for my 12 sting is the only capo that can provide enough pressure to have a buzz-free play.

There are a few of drawbacks that kept me from giving it four stars. First - the capo is heavier than most and changes the balance of the guitar. Second - since there's no spring to provide pressure so it's difficult to place the capo on the guitar head when it's not needed. Third - it's pricier than most capos. Fourth - it takes a little practice to get used to using it with one hand.
