Item Description

Thanks to a patented ultra-thin NANOWEB Coating, Elixir Strings for mandolin retain their full range of tone longer than any other string, uncoated or coated, according to those who play them. All our mandolin strings feature looped ends and our 80/20 bronze-wound strings deliver unsurpassed definition and sustain.

Every time you play your mandolin, tiny bits of you are left to invade the windings to contaminate your strings and kill your tone. Elixir Strings are the only strings that keep dirt out of the windings by coating the entire string. Our ultra-thin NANOWEB Coating provides a bright, lively tone that players tell us lasts longer than any other string, uncoated or coated. This means you buy fewer sets of strings, change them less often and trust your guitar is ready to go whenever you are.

Elixir Nanoweb Mandolin Strings Medium .011 - .040 More and more guitarists are choosing Elixir coated guitar strings. The PolyWeb coating feels comfortably smooth and reduces finger squeak while delivering a balanced tone and smooth response. Elixir strings retain their bright tone 3 to 5 times longer than normal strings. The coating protects the winding from the elements that can make your strings go dead so you don't have replace your strings as often as uncoated strings. Elixir Strings are only available for shipment to addresses in the United States, Canada, U.S. Territories & Possessions, and APO FPO destinations. To contact Elixir about this policy, click here

Switched from J74s
I played J74s and EFW74s on my mandolins for a long time, but I play more now than I ever have and a set lasts significantly longer. No complaints about tone at all.
ProsLong lasting Good tone

Lost Volume
I have played D'Addario J74s for a long time and thought I might give Elixir a shot, I love them on me guitar. However on the mandolin they are a quiet string. I lost volume and the strings were not as articulate as the J74s. They did have a good tone and if you were playing by yourself or possibly with a built in mic it would be fine. I could not recommend these to a bluegrass player. They did feel nice on your fingers.
Prosfeel nice on your finger slide real good
Consnot enough volume tone is muddy at times

Elixir 11525 Nanoweb Coated Mandolin Strings
Best Mandolin Strings ever made. Last forever even with the abuse of Bluegrass Chops. Been my favorite for over 10 years. Try them once and you will never buy anything else.
