Item Description

Gauges 10-13-17-26-36-46. Pure Blues electric guitar strings are designed with pure nickel wrap wire, roundwound upon round cores. While this is a slow, expensive method of string making, it does produce a string acclaimed for increased sustain, vintage tone, and great low tones for playing rhythm to lead. The extra step of winding pure nickel around a round core give Pure Blues strings a punch that players say they are surprised to get in a vintage string. Sounds great on any guitar!

I've used these strings for a while. Although I use flatwounds now, I've always used these strings whenever I need a round wound sound. I use either the 10s or 11s and I should say they I could get away with things on the 11s because they feel so much lighter than heavier gauge strings from other brands. These strings stay bright but not ear piercing bright. Great for telecasters (which I own).
ProsGreat tone. Flexible. Long lasting.
ConsThey're round wound so follow the instructions on how to wind them on the tuners.

Final decision: These strings have about a 12 hr playing time and then the intonation goes bad. I don't play hard and I don't have problems with the other brands. During the short lifespan they do sound good, so if you use them for a gig and change often they might be OK. After three
not- so-good packages I wrote to the company but did not get any response. So it's goodby DR. It's D'addario for me!

These are nice sounding strings with a smooth and silky feel due to the low tension, however, I installed a set on a G&L ASAT with slotted tuners and ruined them. I bent the string over to crimp the winding as recommended because of the round core before installing, but I guess the crimp wasn't tight enough! The manufacturer does crimp them somewhere near the end of the string but I couldn't find it. With slotted tuners you have to cut the string to length before installing. I'll use them in the future, just not on the G&L.

I love the sound of these strings but they don't last long at all when giging I have to replace them every weekend. Love the sound but one could go broke replacing them.
