Item Description

D'Addario EXP Coated Electric Guitar Strings deliver great tone, natural feel, and a longer life!

"EXP Coated strings are fantastic. They sound great as soon as I put them on and their tone hasn’t changed after a couple gigs that would normally have destroyed regular strings!”D'Addario EXP's deliver the most natural-sounding, longest-lasting coated strings available." - Grammy Award Winning Jazz Guitarist Bill Frisell

D'Addario EXP Coated Electric Guitar Strings offer a distinct, bright tone, with excellent intonation and a "fret-friendly" round wound feel of traditional non-coated strings, that last 3 to 4 times longer. The EXP coating applied to the wrap wire before it is wound, and the tin plating process for the steel strings resist corrosion, extending the same natural tone and feel you would get from the world famous D'Addario EXL Nickel Round Wound Electric Guitar Strings.

D’Addario’s EXP Coated Strings now feature plain steel strings and hexagonal cores made of our revolutionary NY High Carbon Steel. Envisioned, perfected, and manufactured by D’Addario in New York, this newly engineered, break-resistant, high-carbon steel wire delivers unprecedented strength and pitch stability. Combined with the highest quality wrap wire materials, precision drawn and micro-coated on our advanced proprietary machinery, each EXP set maintains that familiar uncoated tone while adding up to 4 times more life!

D'Addario has incorporated Corrosion Intercept Technology with their environmentally friendly packaging to insure your strings are green, and fresh for the pickin'!

The application of Corrosion Intercept Technology, developed by Lucent Technologies' Bell Labs, is the most significant development in string packaging since D'Addario pioneered the environmental string package in 1992. Each Corrosion Intercept bag employs a plastic which contains a gas-neutralizing barrier in the polymer matrix. This barrier reacts with and neutralizes gasses which cause materials to tarnish, guaranteeing that your D'Addario strings are as fresh and tarnish-free as the day we packaged them. Since Corrosion Intercept bags are both environmentally friendly and completely recyclable, they'll keep our planet untarnished as well.

Also, as a result of D'Addario's Player's Points Program, several tons of packaging redeemed for D'Addario gear gets systematically recycled every year.

All D'Addario packaging is either produced from recycled materials or is completely recyclable.

Al Schnier of Moe talks about D'Addario's environmentally friendly packaging.

So Far So Good
Got these on sale so I gave them a try. Seem to be good sounding smooth strings. I couldn't notice any coating or effects of coating. Time will tell about longevity. Great service and fast shipping as always.

Great strings. Not sure if they're worth the premium.
I found these strings to feel and play great. They seem to last long, and feel smoother than the uncoated counter parts. I'm not sure if they're worth the extra cost since the regular D'Addario EXP's so good already.

Mediocre longevity
They're not terrible; they do sound and feel good and last longer than your typical uncoated strings. But compared to several other coated strings I've tried, they don't last near as long and aren't any better value-wise. If you're a huge D'Addario fan and are just looking for a little extra string life, then they might be a good choice, but my feeling is there are better alternatives in the coated string market.
ProsGood sound when fresh Smooth, fast feel
ConsDon't last long Uncompetitive price/performance
