Item Description

Rock the night into the early morning with these jazzy smooth D'Addario ECG26 Chromes High Finish Ribbon Wound Electric Guitar Strings.

"I take D'Addario strings everywhere I go - stage, studio or practicing. They have a great sound; they're very consistent and last a long time. I think D'Addario strings are absolutely the best." - John Scofield - one of the "Big Three" of current jazz guitarists

D'Addario ECG26 Chromes High Finish Ribbon Wound Electric Guitar Strings offer a warm mellow tone and a smooth, polished feel thanks to being wound with flattened stainless steel "ribbon" wire. These strings are perfect for rockin' rockabilly twang and sipping classic jazz tunes.

All D'Addario strings are precisely wound around a hexagonally shaped high-carbon-steel core wire by computer-controlled machines guaranteeing clear intonation, rock-solid fundamentals, and incomparable consistency in every string. The tight core tension produced through this rigorous quality-controlled process results in a harmonically rich, longer-lasting string.

D'Addario has incorporated Corrosion Intercept Technology with their environmentally friendly packaging to insure your strings are green, and fresh for the pickin'!

The application of Corrosion Intercept Technology, developed by Lucent Technologies' Bell Labs, is the most significant development in string packaging since D'Addario pioneered the environmental string package in 1992. Each Corrosion Intercept bag employs a plastic which contains a gas-neutralizing barrier in the polymer matrix. This barrier reacts with and neutralizes gasses which cause materials to tarnish, guaranteeing that your D'Addario strings are as fresh and tarnish-free as the day we packaged them. Since Corrosion Intercept bags are both environmentally friendly and completely recyclable, they'll keep our planet untarnished as well.

Also, as a result of D'Addario's Player's Points Program, several tons of packaging redeemed for D'Addario gear gets systematically recycled every year.

All D'Addario packaging is either produced from recycled materials or is completely recyclable.

Fantastic feel and tone
I play metal, and was wondering what flatwounds would sound like with heavy distortion. I tuned these down to B standard, and they sound very nice. Nice thick, warm tone with a smooth high end with no fizzy harshness or string noise, of course. If you like low action, but don't like the rattle coming through the amp, these are the strings for you. If you like a rich, deep tone with less upper harmonics and more fundamental, then these are for you. I would use these flatwounds all the time simply for the feel, but they obviously lack the sustain and high end crispness of regular nickel-plated steel strings, so I stick with those. They sound thuddy on palm mutes and lack pick attack for my purposes. They also have the added benefit of more tension vs nickel-wound string of the same gauge.

Great string!
This has been my string of choice for awhile now. Gives the perfect soft tone- and the flat wound makes jazz or blues a dream. Definitely recommend this string.

High Finish Ribbon Wound
I always use these strings, they give a very warm mellow sound that I like. It is a real soft jazz sound.
